St Mawes - Baltimore Southern Ireland. (Sail around Land's End across the Celtic sea)
Join us for what could turn out to be one of the most visually iconic offshore races in the world today.
Once again Pilot Cutters racing head to head offshore round Lands end, out into the western approaches and across the Celtic Sea to the Fastnet Rock. ...But this time instead of heading back, the race continues to Baltimore in Southern Ireland, ..could there be a better place for prize giving? ...and then a few days cruising in the area of Baltimore with its islands, secluded anchorages and Guinness!!
We will be up against some formidable opponents, but even though “Edith Gray” is one of the smallest, we can promise any ground given will be hard fought.
“Edith Gray” is set up for ocean racing. She finished the 2011 Fastnet race in good time beating the Classic competition and Pilot Cutter Jolie Rise 1925 record. She is a boat happy and at home out in the open Ocean.
The race starts from Falmouth on Tuesday 29th May and finishes at the Fastnet Rock. There are three classes to suit all types of pilot cutter.
The Fastnet Cup will be awarded to first boat on handicap, there will be prizes for the first boat on handicap for each class and the Fastnet Trophy for line honours.
A pre-race supper will be held at The Royal Cornwall Yacht Club on Monday 28th May . The prize giving will be in Ireland on Friday 1st June.
